Benefits of Center-Based Services

Increased Resources

There are a variety of resources available at each of our centers. Given the nature of our centers, we’re able to provide more educational supplies than we could in a home setting. Some of these include tangible supplies, like educational materials, toys or reinforcers, while other resources include increased staff to assist in your child’s development.

Physical therapy assists in helping a child perform all physical functions required for their day such as rolling, crawling, sitting, standing, walking, running, jumping, playing, and climbing. During the early years of development, it is essential to challenge and help build a strong physical foundation in order to encourage a child’s growth towards independence, peer play, and overall health and fitness.

Physical Therapy incorporates child-friendly “exercise” in the form of games, obstacle courses, and concentrated skill development in a fun gym environment. Parent and caregiver collaboration are encouraged in order to reach individualized goals. Your child’s therapist will work with you and your family to build on the skills learned in treatment sessions by developing home programs and providing you with the information you need to help meet your child’s needs.

School Readiness Skills

Center-based services also provide an opportunity for your child to practice following classroom routines. Having a physical setup similar to what your child can expect from a classroom can help prepare them for the transition to a traditional school environment.

Generalization

Children often learn skills at home and have difficulty demonstrating the same learned skills in less familiar environments. Center-based services offer an ideal setting for children to learn and demonstrate skills in a less familiar environment with different materials and individuals.
