When: Sunday, June 13, 2010 (11:00-3:00pm)

Where: Camp James/Hidden Valley Park in Irvine, CA (Next to Wild Rivers, Last Year at this location)

What: This event is a fun picnic for children and families affected by autism which includes carnival rides, fun activities, mist machines, picnic games, etc.

Developmental Skill Builders

This program is designed for children who would benefit from continued skill development within a small peer group setting. Skill Builders will systematically address skills in critical areas of development in a structured setting with trained therapeutic staff. Sessions will be conducted by highly experienced Developmental Specialists and designed by an interdisciplinary team including Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational/Physical Therapists, and Behavior Specialists/Analysts. Children will receive multiple opportunities to practice targeted skills and promote generalization of concepts with peers.

Developmental Skill Builders sessions will help prepare children for future group learning and preschool readiness. Sessions will emphasize the following:

Learning readiness (attending, observational learning, imitation, following directions)
Language and Communication (vocabulary development, early conversation skills, social language)
Social Skills (interactive peer play, social initiation, turn taking/sharing)
Behavior (cooperation, learning rules and expectations)
Sensory Motor (sensory exploration, fine and gross motor skills)

Who: Children ages 2 ½ – 4 ½ who have developmental needs. The ratio of adults per child will be 1:3.

When: Monday through Thursdays 9:30-11:00 or 11:30-1:00. Skill Builders will run from April 1^st, 2011 through June 30^th, 2011. Additional day/times may be available based on scheduling needs.

Where: Clinic-based Skill Builders will be available in our West/Central and North/East office locations.

Cost: $100 for 4 sessions. Discount package rates available (see front office)

Speak With Me Spring Dates

‘Speak With Me’ is a week-long program, facilitated by a speech-language pathologist, where your child work on learning and generalizing speech-language goals with appropriately matched peers. Skills will be addressed in books, songs, crafts, games, and/or other fun activities.

The skills addressed may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Receptive and Expressive Vocabulary
Generalization of speech skills
Following Directions
Requesting, Showing off, Greetings
Observational learning
Symbolic Play

Who: Children will be matched according to age and similar goals/needs, with no more than 3 children per session.

When: SWiM will meet five times weekly for one hour per session. Specific times to be determined based on enrollment interest.

Spring Dates:

· April 5, 2010-April 9, 2010 (From 4:00-5:00pm)
